This overshirt is made from a Portuguese grain sack and dates to the 19th century. Different family businesses developed patterns, colors, and monograms to identify their grain sacks so they could be returned to them once their grain was milled into flour. The fabric is mostly linen with some added wool. Hand-mending throughout.
