Valois Fringe Top - S

This top is made from filet lace, c.1930s, a type of lace made by darning patterns into a mesh ground. It is thought to have originated in fishing communities, who adapted their net-making abilities for decorative use. The top is trimmed with silver-beaded fringe. Hand-mending throughout.
