This shirt is made from a cutwork tablecloth, circa 1930s-1950s. Cutwork is a needlework technique in which patterns are cut from the fabric and the raw edges are secured with fine needlework. This example is unique in that the maker filled in some cutouts with different-colored lace patches. Hand-mending throughout.
