These pants are cut from silk seersucker, a distinctive fabric recreated from a French swatchbook, c.1930s. They have a wide-leg silhouette reminiscent of beach pajamas, loose trousers worn over swimsuits that evolved out of sleepwear. The wide popularity of beach pajamas helped to normalize women's pants in the early 20th century.
