Reticulated Flower Dress

This dress is made from a cutwork tablecloth, circa 1930s-1940s. Cutwork is a needlework technique in which patterns are cut from the fabric and the empty spaces are filled in with lace or fine stitching.

This tablecloth features patches of tape or Battenberg lace, which uses a woven fabric "tape" secured in patterns. Hand-mending throughout.
