This shirt is made from wax-printed fabric from Africa. This style of printing originated in the mid-1800s, originally influenced by the batik printing process popular in Indonesia. To create a print, resin is applied in patterns to both sides of cotton fabric. When the cotton is dipped in dye, the resin prevents the dye from taking in certain areas. Hand-mending throughout.
